Natural Attractions Near Our St Augustine Hotel
Enjoy your Spring Break at our St Augustine hotel, right near the beach! Spring is a wonderful time of year here in Florida. We have moderate temperatures where the sun will be shining yet it is not sweltering hot or too humid for outdoor activities. St Augustine Beach is warm enough for sunbathing and you can swim in the ocean for a refreshing dip in the water, which is in the high 60s to low 70s at this time of year. As vegetation turns green again and St Augustine sheds the last remnants of winter, you have got to see the natural beauty of our wonderful town.

There are many attractions in St Augustine, but the natural gems are what really stand out during this time of year. When you come to stay in our hotel rooms in St Augustine, be sure to visit these places to see the natural wonders of our town.

Anastasia State Park

This is a state owned park, located 1.5 miles north of SR 312 on SR A1A, which is less than five miles south of St. Augustine. This park has more than 1600 acres and four miles of beaches and is open for visitors from 8am until sunset. Why visit this place? If you love the great outdoors then this is a must-see day trip. Pack a cooler and bring comfortable walking clothes with a swimsuit, towel and sunscreen. Take the nature walk through maritime hammock or rent canoes, sailboards, paddleboats or kayaks from Anastasia Watersports. To see more info on this park, visit their official website at  http://www.floridastateparks.org/anastasia/default.cfm

Guana Tolomato Matanzas National Estuarine Research Preserve
This is a huge area dedicated to biodiversity research and also has designated recreational areas open to the public. If you want to see the real Florida, we suggest a nature hike or bike ride through the preserve. There are also areas for kayaking, horseback riding and fishing. Depending on how far you want to travel, you can choose different areas to visit. See them all at the official website: http://www.dep.state.fl.us/coastal/sites/gtm/recreation.htm

Fort Matanzas National Monument
If you want to see a historic attraction and Florida's natural beauty, visit this national park and see Fort Matanzas, which once guarded the southern river approach in St. Augustine. This monument is located on a wild barrier island with a diverse ecosystem that lives amongst the woodlands, beach and salt marsh areas.  What to do at Fort Matanzas? Take a ferry ride or go hiking, bird watching, or just take pictures and enjoy the great outdoors. View the ferry schedule here: http://www.nps.gov/foma/basics.htmTo get to this park, continue down A1A South Street to 8635 A1A South Street, which is where the park is located. The park is open from 9am to 5:30 every day except Christmas.

Come visit us in St Augustine and see the natural beauty of Florida. We are more than just historic attractions, shopping, art and restaurants, we have natural attractions as well. Spring is a wonderful time of year to explore the public parks and stay at our St Augustine hotel by the beach.
